To Educate a Girl, a documentary film supported by the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), introduces a pressing global issue: the struggles girls around the world face daily to get an education. To Educate a Girl looks at just a few children and youth in two countries, Uganda and Nepal, but the issue is present worldwide.

Beginning June 22, 2011 the film can be seen in its entirety on Link TV’s View+Change platform: www.viewchange.org.

About the film: The Interrupters tells the moving and surprising stories of three Violence Interrupters who try to protect their Chicago communities from the violence they once employed.

I really want to see this film. Working at the community-level and representing a social service agency fighting sex trafficking of American girls, I’ve often been asked “what can I do to stop this exploitation in my community?” People want to know what they can do in their communities to prevent the cycles of violence and oppression. The organization Ceasefire in Chicago strives to be an answer.

The International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) is the action focus of a heart stopping documentary being released nationwide in theaters next week. Tapestries of Hope features the story of prominent Zimbabwean activist Betty Makoni who works to support abused girls. In this film, director Michealene Cristini Risley, investigates the longstanding myths in Africa that virgin blood has the power to cure AIDS.

Airing on Showtime on March 30th
